About Stef
A warm, dependable presence — someone you can truly trust
I know how difficult it is to be so far from the people you love. Living overseas while a parent or elderly relative remains in South Africa brings a particular kind of worry — not because they can't manage, but because you can't simply pop in for a cup of tea and see for yourself that everything is all right.
My name is Stefania Wood — everyone calls me Stef — and I'm based in the Noordhoek area of Cape Town. For many years I've worked closely alongside families here, building relationships built entirely on trust, consistency, and genuine care. The families I've worked with describe me as calm, reliable, punctual, and someone who puts safety first — qualities that matter most when you're placing your trust in someone from the other side of the world.
I hold a qualification in Early Childhood Development (Level 4) from the College of Cape Town, which included first aid training, and I bring a naturally nurturing approach to every relationship I build. But above all, I simply care — about the people I visit, and about the families who love them.
This service is personal. It's not clinical, it's not a call-centre, and it's not managed by a team. When you reach out, you speak directly to me.
What I offer
Personal, thoughtful support
Every visit is tailored to your loved one's needs and your family's wishes. Nothing clinical. Nothing rushed. Just genuine care.
Wellbeing Check Visits
Short, friendly in-person visits to see that everything is okay at home — and to provide a warm, personal update to family afterwards. Practical peace of mind delivered with care.
Companion Visits
Meaningful time spent together — conversation over tea, a gentle walk, a shared activity, or simply a friendly, unhurried presence. Because connection matters as much as anything else.
Family Updates
After every visit, you hear from me directly. WhatsApp messages, photos where appropriate, and honest updates so you always know how your loved one is doing — however far away you are.
Practical Support
Light errands, pharmacy or grocery runs, accompaniment to appointments, or help with small day-to-day tasks. The kind of thoughtful assistance that makes a real difference.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Have a question that isn't here? Just ask — I'm happy to talk things through.
No — this is a personal companionship and wellbeing service. I am not a nurse, carer, or medical professional, and I do not provide any clinical or medical care. What I offer is warm, reliable in-person company, gentle practical support, and family updates. If your loved one has complex medical needs, this service complements — but does not replace — professional medical care.
I am based in Noordhoek, Cape Town, and cover the broader Cape Peninsula area including Hout Bay, Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, Constantia, Kalk Bay, and surrounding neighbourhoods. If you're unsure whether I cover your area, please get in touch and I'll let you know.
Both are welcome. Monthly plans offer the best value and consistency — your loved one gets to know me and feels comfortable over time. But one-off visits are absolutely available, for example if you're travelling and need someone to check in on a parent, or for a special occasion. Just get in touch to discuss.
Yes, always. After every visit, I send a personal WhatsApp message with an honest, warm update on how your loved one is doing. On the Companion Care and Premium Care+ plans, I also include photos where appropriate and share more detailed notes about what we did together.
Absolutely. My visits can work alongside existing care arrangements. Many families find that their loved one's regular carer is wonderful but very busy with practical tasks — I can add a layer of genuine companionship and family communication that is separate from daily care duties. It is about connection, not competition.
Payments can be made securely from overseas via Wise (formerly TransferWise) or PayPal. No special account is required on the client's side — both are simple to use and widely available internationally. South African Rand invoices are issued monthly. Please get in touch and I'll walk you through how it works.
